Privacy Policy

Clairté  ·  Last updated May 2026

Clairté is designed to be private by default. This policy explains what data the app handles, where it goes, and what it does not do.

What stays on your device

All journal entries and mood data are stored locally on your device using SQLite. This data may be included in your iCloud backup if iCloud Backup is enabled on your device. It is never synced to any server and never leaves your device except as described below.

Anonymous identifier

On first launch, Clairté generates a random anonymous UUID and stores it in your device's Keychain. This identifier is not linked to your name, email address, Apple ID, or any other personal information.

AI insight generation

When generating a weekly or monthly insight, Clairté sends the following to a backend proxy server over an encrypted connection (HTTPS):

This data is forwarded to Anthropic's Claude API to generate your insight. The backend proxy does not store, log, or retain any of this data. Anthropic processes this data as a data processor on our behalf. For information on how Anthropic handles data, see anthropic.com/privacy.

Feedback

If you submit feedback via the in-app feedback form, the text of your feedback is sent to the backend proxy and forwarded to the developer by email. Feedback text is not logged or stored on the server. No personal information is attached to feedback submissions.

Data we do not collect

Clairté does not collect, store, or share:

Your right to delete your data

You can delete all data at any time from Settings → Your data → Delete all data. This removes all journal entries, insights, and the anonymous UUID from your device. The action is irreversible.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes materially, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a new date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
